By VETTAPHARMA reporter: Boston, MA – February 6, 2026: EMD Serono, the U.S. healthcare business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, today announced major advancements in patient access to infertility medicines used in in vitro fertilization (IVF) across the United States. The announcement comes as part of efforts aligned with the Executive Order on “Expanding Access to In Vitro Fertilization,” advancing the company’s mission to support individuals and families facing infertility.
Under the new initiative, prescribed patients can now obtain a single coupon that covers EMD Serono’s complete portfolio of fertility medications — including Gonal-f® (follitropin alfa for injection), Ovidrel® (choriogonadotropin alfa injection), and Cetrotide® (cetrorelix acetate for injection) — through the U.S. federal TrumpRx.gov site and the company’s Fertility Instant Savings platform. These tools aim to simplify pricing and access for patients who are paying out-of-pocket for infertility treatments.
The Fertility Instant Savings portal offers product information, frequently asked questions, and guidance on how to use the coupon with participating pharmacy partners — streamlining the process for patients pursuing medically assisted reproduction.
“Behind every fertility treatment is a person’s hope and dream,” said Miguel Fernández Alcalde, President of EMD Serono. “These new pathways to access our therapies reflect our belief that breakthrough science must reach the people who need it most.”
Infertility impacts millions of women in the United States, with more than 10 million women struggling to have a baby, according to the press release. The collaboration with the federal administration reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to expanding access to fertility innovations and aligns with national health goals to ease barriers to care.
In addition to enhanced access routes, EMD Serono received a Commissioner’s National Priority Voucher (CNPV) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for Pergoveris® (a combination follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormone therapy available outside the U.S.). The voucher is one of the first nine selected under this initiative, designed to expedite review of products that support critical national health priorities.
The company also highlighted its historical contributions to IVF innovation, noting that its scientific work helped lead to the birth of the first IVF baby in the U.S. and that its portfolio has supported over 6 million successful births worldwide.
